Late 19th Century (1870-1899) Dimension: 13.5cm wide x 15cm high Indicative Price: RM2200 Blue and white kamcheng pot of the commonest variety of blue and white ware found in the kitchens of traditional Peranakan homes. Nyonya used such pots to keep table salt or sugar. Decorated with sweatpea flowers and formalized scrolls. The finial on the cover is modelled of a crouching Buddhist lion. 1 side handle crack and a rim crack on its cover. No mark. A similar pot was found in the Lin ZeXu’s (Chinese scholar-official of the Qing dynasty best known for his role in the First Opium War of 1839–42) famous memorial located in Fuzhou, Fujian Province of China.
